Encourage me to make sounds myself in response to the sounds that you make
Have ‘conversations’ with me in sound:
- Use your voice to make sounds I enjoy, and let me feel your lips so I know what is happening …
- And then guide my hand to feel my lips too
- Give me lots of time to respond
- Put bells on my wrists or ankles and bells on yours too, and play shaking games
- Put a balloon between us and share the sounds made with hands and voices
- Make funny noises down a cardboard tube held to my ear, and encourage me to do the same
