Help me to make choices through using sound symbols
See whether my understanding that sounds can stand for other things can help me make choices:
- Find out who I would like to sit next to by offering me a choice of two jangly bracelets that two of my helpers wear
- Find out where I would like to go by playing one windchime then another that are used to identify different rooms
- Find out what activity I would like to do by offering me sounding objects of reference for one activity then another
- Give me plenty of time to choose
- Be sensitive to the way in which I express a preference – by looking, vocalising, moving, stilling or smiling
- Once I can choose between two things reliably, try three or even four
