Play me catchy bursts of rhythm on percussion instruments
Short rhythmic figures might be the first musical elements that I am able to grasp, so play me:
- ‘rat-a-tat-tat, rat-a-tat-tat, rat-a-tat-tat’ on a drum
- ‘shake-shake-bang, shake-shake-bang, shake-shake-bang’ with the maracas
- ‘ting-a-ling-a-ling, ting-a-ling-ling’ on a triangle or cymbal
- Stop the patterns in mid-flow and see if I want more
- ‘Daisy chains in sound’ on different instruments – ‘tap-tap-tap’ on the drum, then the tambourine, for example
- Different bursts of rhythm connected together – ‘rat-a-tat-tat, shake-shake-bang, ting-a-ling-a-ling’, for example
